What time of year should I take photos?
Portraits, headshots, branding, birthdays, and events are taken year round! But here's a quick guide on when the majority of photography is taken. I highly recommend you book your spot online now and then let us chat about the details and adjust time as needed once you are on the calendar.
January and February
The early cold months are a great time for indoor headshots and branding to get you and your company ready for the new year! This might be a multi-day corporate shoot on site for your large office or just the two of us in the studio with a variety of outfits.
I take branding photos with a solid shot list so that you have lots of versatile content to work with all year! Many people do branding shoots twice a year so they always have fresh photos.
If we do outdoor portraits, a cool-toned and modern city vibe wearing layers can be fun.
Couples portraits are a great way to celebrate Valentines Day!
March, April, and May
Senior photos for May graduates start now! This is what your graduate will look like at graduation so it's a fine time to capture the memory. In the early months, the Arboretum is a great place for outdoor photos because they usually have something in bloom. If we wait until the leaves are fully on the trees in late March or early April, any location can be great. Schedule early enough to get your invitations printed.
I also photograph Senior parties and school formals.
Mother's Day portraits are the best gift for moms of any age. Mother's Day is the 2nd Sunday in May. Schedule for early April to have prints ready or give her a gift certificate you can purchase here and let her schedule it at her convenience.
These are the rainiest months, so keep your eye on the weather and be prepared for a back up day to reschedule to.
June, July, and August
I photograph a lot of summer family portraits during the summer! With younger kids out of school, college kids home for the break, and family visiting from out of town, this is an easy time to schedule a portrait with everyone together.
Dad's love photos too! Father's Day is the 3rd Sunday in June. Schedule a portrait session with Dad or Grandpa and get them a new photo for their desk.
Sorority Recruitment headshots are often taken during the summer to submit with their application.
Seniors with busy schedules often have more time to do photos during the summer!
This is a fabulous time to schedule a friend group Senior portrait and use them as decoration for their graduation parties.
September, October, and November
It's time for Holiday Portraits! Schedule your Fall Portrait as EARLY as possible in the season. It's a busy time of year for me and turn around time can be slower than normal. The sooner you take your photos, the sooner you'll have them back.
It's also a great time for Seniors Portraits!
December
In December I'm photographing last-minute indoor Holiday Portraits and events.
